The Postgraduate Program of English Language Education (MPBIng), Faculty of Teacher Training and Education (FKIP), Universitas Bengkulu, successfully conducted a Public Lecture on Saturday, 24 January 2026, via Zoom from 10.00–11.30 WIB. The event ran smoothly and attracted enthusiastic participation from postgraduate students, lecturers, and several English teachers, indicating strong interest from both academic and practitioner communities.
The session featured Dr. Debora Tri Ragawanti, MA-ELT, a senior EFL lecturer, teacher educator, and materials designer from Satya Wacana Christian University. She delivered an insightful presentation on the theme “A Digital Multimodal Approach to Developing English Teaching Materials,” highlighting both theoretical foundations and practical strategies for integrating multimodal resources—such as visuals, audio, video, and interactive digital tools—into English teaching materials.
The event was moderated by Suci Sartika Putri, a second-semester MPBIng student, demonstrating active student involvement in academic activities. Dr. Iis Sujarwati, M.Pd.- the head of the program- delivered the opening remarks and officially opened the event, emphasizing the relevance of digital multimodality for postgraduate students and English teachers in responding to contemporary ELT challenges.
An interactive question-and-answer session followed, during which participants—particularly English teachers—shared classroom experiences and explored ways to adapt digital multimodal materials to diverse teaching contexts. The lively discussion reflected strong engagement and practical interest in applying the concepts presented.
Overall, the successful implementation of this public lecture reaffirms MPBIng FKIP UNIB’s commitment to strengthening academic discourse, bridging theory and practice, and promoting innovation in English Language Teaching through meaningful collaboration between universities and schools.
