The Master’s Program in English Language Education (MPBIng), Faculty of Teacher Training and Education, Universitas Bengkulu, successfully organized a workshop on “Journal Management Capacity-Building” on April 23, 2026. The workshop took place in the International Room on the 2nd Floor of the Learning Laboratory Building and aimed to strengthen institutional capacity to manage academic journals professionally and sustainably.

The workshop was facilitated by Dr. Faizal Risdianto, S.S., M.Hum., Managing Editor of Register Journal, who delivered a comprehensive and practice-oriented session on journal management. His presentation covered key components of editorial workflows, including manuscript submission systems, reviewer management, editorial decision-making processes, and strategies for achieving national and international indexing standards.

This activity was attended by all editorial board members of Journal of Applied Linguistics and Literature (Joall) and Jurnal Inovasi Pengabdian Masyarakat Pendidikan (JIPMP). Notably, Prof. Safnil, M.A., Ph.D., as Editor-in-Chief of Joall, and Dr. Ira Maisarah, S.Hum., M.Pd., as Managing Editor of Joall, were also present and actively engaged in the workshop discussions. Their participation contributed to a deeper exchange of perspectives on journal quality improvement and editorial best practices.

The workshop adopted an interactive, hands-on format, allowing participants to explore journal management systems, particularly Open Journal Systems (OJS). Participants engaged in critical discussions on challenges related to journal accreditation, SINTA indexing, and international visibility, making the session highly relevant to ongoing journal development efforts at the faculty level.

Overall, the workshop reflects the MPBIng program’s strategic commitment to enhancing publication capacity and strengthening the governance of academic journals. It also supports the broader institutional objective of increasing the quality, credibility, and global reach of scholarly publications produced within Universitas Bengkulu.
