The Master’s Program in English Language Education (MPBIng), Faculty of Teacher Training and Education, Universitas Bengkulu, successfully conducted a public lecture titled “The Use of AI to Find Research Gap and Novelty” on April 23, 2026. The event was held at the Learning Laboratory Building (Wing Kiri) and was attended by the Head of the Department of Language and Arts Education, all lecturers of the MPBIng program, and students from both the Master’s Program in English Language Education and the Undergraduate Program in English Education.
The session featured Dr. Faizal Risdianto, S.S., M.Hum. from UIN Salatiga, Central Java, as the guest speaker. In his presentation, Dr. Risdianto elaborated on practical and analytical approaches to using artificial intelligence to identify research gaps and establish novelty in academic studies. He highlighted the need to combine AI-assisted analysis with critical thinking to ensure academic rigor and originality.
The lecture was moderated by Suci Sartika Putri, a student of the Master’s Program in English Language Education, who managed the session effectively and encouraged active interaction. The discussion segment was particularly dynamic, with many participants enthusiastically raising questions related to the application of AI in research, ethical considerations, and strategies for academic writing.

At the closing session, a certificate of appreciation was presented to the guest speaker by the Head of the Department of Language and Arts Education, Dr. Bustannudin Lubis, M.A., accompanied by the Coordinator of the Master’s Program in English Language Education, Dr. Iis Sujarwati, M.Pd. This formal recognition marked the program’s appreciation for the valuable insights shared during the lecture.
The event concluded with a group photo session, reflecting strong collegiality and academic engagement among participants. This activity demonstrates the MPBIng program’s continued commitment to promoting research-based and technology-integrated learning, in line with its vision of producing graduates who are academically competent and globally competitive.
