The Master’s Program in English Language Education (MPBIng), Faculty of Teacher Training and Education, Universitas Bengkulu, successfully organized a Journal Management Capacity-Building Workshop aimed at enhancing the quality and professionalism of academic journal management. The workshop reflects the program’s ongoing commitment to supporting research dissemination and improving scholarly publication standards at both national and international levels.
Held on April 23, 2026, at 13.00 WIB in the International Room, 2nd Floor of the Learning Laboratory, FKIP UNIB, the event brought together lecturers, researchers, and journal managers who are actively involved in academic publishing. The session focused on strengthening participants’ understanding of editorial workflows, journal governance, indexing strategies, and accreditation requirements.
The workshop featured Dr. Faizal Risdianto, S.S., M.Hum., Managing Editor of Register Journal, as the keynote speaker. In his presentation, Dr. Faizal emphasized the importance of maintaining editorial integrity, ensuring consistency in peer-review processes, and strategically positioning journals to achieve higher visibility and indexing. He also shared practical insights into managing Open Journal Systems (OJS), improving manuscript quality, and meeting the standards required by national accreditation bodies and international indexing databases.
Participants engaged actively in discussions, particularly on common challenges in journal management, such as maintaining reviewer commitment, improving article quality, and sustaining publication regularity. The interactive nature of the workshop allowed attendees to exchange experiences and explore practical solutions that can be implemented in their respective journals.
This workshop was supported by JOALL (Journal of Applied Linguistics and Literature) and Jurnal Inovasi Pengabdian Masyarakat Pendidikan, further demonstrating collaborative efforts to advance academic publishing practices within the institution.
Through this initiative, MPBIng FKIP UNIB continues to strengthen its role in fostering a research-driven academic culture and supporting the development of high-quality scholarly publications. The program expects that participants will apply the knowledge gained to improve journal performance, increase accreditation levels, and contribute more significantly to the global academic community.
