About us

The Magister Pendidikan Bahasa Inggris (MPBIng) was officially established on January 28, 2014, through the Directorate General of Higher Education Decree No. 77/E.E2/DT/2014. Since its inception, the program has been dedicated to producing highly qualified graduates with strong academic, pedagogical, research, and technological expertise to meet the increasing demands of English language education in Indonesia and beyond.

MPBIng specializes in advancing knowledge in:

  • Pedagogical knowledge (how to teach effectively),
  • Content knowledge of English (linguistics, literature, applied linguistics),
  • Technological pedagogical content knowledge (using digital tools and innovation in ELT),
  • Curriculum and instruction design, and
  • Innovative teaching and learning practices.

Graduate Profiles

Graduates of MPBIng are prepared to become:

  1. Educators – Teaching English innovatively across various levels of education with research-based, culturally sensitive, and technology-enhanced approaches.
  2. Researchers – Designing and conducting systematic, ethical, and innovative research in English language education that contributes to theory, policy, and practice nationally and internationally.

Program Structure

The curriculum is designed in accordance with KKNI Level 8 and adopts Outcome-Based Education (OBE) principles. It integrates three main Bodies of Knowledge (BoK):

  1. Pedagogical and Linguistic Foundations
  2. Research Methodology and Scholarly Inquiry
  3. Instructional Innovation and Edutechnopreneurship

The program can be completed in 4 semesters (2 years) with flexible learning modes:
