Bengkulu, October 9, 2025 — The Master’s Program in English Language Education (MPBIng), Faculty of Teacher Training and Education, Universitas Bengkulu proudly congratulates Ms. Leni Maria, S.Pd. (Student ID: A2B024037), a third-semester student, for her remarkable achievement as the Outstanding Madrasah Teacher (Guru Madrasah Berprestasi) at the Madrasah Tsanawiyah (MTs) level for South Sumatra Province.
The prestigious recognition was awarded during the Provincial Selection Event for Outstanding Madrasah Teachers held at the Regional Office of the Ministry of Religious Affairs, South Sumatra, on Wednesday, October 8, 2025. As part of the honor, Ms. Leni received a new laptop as a token of appreciation for her dedication and contribution to innovative English language teaching.
In this competition, Ms. Leni, who currently serves as an English teacher at MTS Ulin Nuha Lubuklinggau, stood out among 80 participants representing the MTs level across the province. While most competitors presented modified teaching modules, instructional media, or classroom-based teaching aids, she took a unique approach — presenting her research-based academic publications as evidence of her continuous professional and scholarly development.
In her reflection, Ms. Leni shared:
“There were around 80 participants for the MTs level. Most of them presented modified teaching modules, materials, or learning media. But I decided to present my three published journal articles instead. I explained my research works, and alhamdulillah, I won.”
Her academic works include:
-
L. Maria & I. Sujarwati. Short Video TikTok in EFL: How Does It Impact Students’ Vocabulary Mastery. Indonesian Journal of Educational Development (IJED), 6(2), 367–379. [Sinta 2 Indexed Journal — Read here]

These research publications showcase her consistent effort to integrate classroom experience with academic research — a hallmark of reflective and research-oriented teaching.
Dr. Iis Sujarwati, M.Pd., Head of the Master’s Program in English Language Education, expressed her pride and appreciation, stating:
“We are deeply proud of Ms. Leni’s outstanding accomplishment. Her success reflects the spirit of research-based teaching that we encourage at MPBIng FKIP UNIB. By presenting her scholarly publications instead of teaching aids, she has demonstrated that academic inquiry can directly contribute to professional excellence. Her achievement is an inspiration for all educators to combine research, innovation, and reflective practice.”
The MPBIng academic community extends heartfelt congratulations to Ms. Leni Maria, S.Pd., for her exemplary achievement. Her success stands as a shining example of how postgraduate students can advance both their academic and professional journeys through dedication, creativity, and scholarly engagement.
